The Morrissey revivial continues as he is currently on tour in the UK. This is from an interview in The Observer:

“‘My best friend? At the age of 43? My credit card!’ Not even a cat? ‘No. My best friend is myself. I look after myself very, very well. I can rely on myself never to let myself down. I’m the last person I want to see at night and the first in the morning. I am endlessly fascinating – at eight o clock at night, at midnight, I’m fascinated. It’s a lifelong relationship and divorce will never come into it.”

Now I will be forever grateful to Mohammed Al Fayed for what he has done for Fulham Football Club over the past five years, but you have to wonder what is going on in his head. Here he is in last Sunday’s Observer:

“This is the country I love! I love the people also! But I know there are a few hundred people – thugs! bastards! – who destroy the freedom and human rights in this country. This establishment. They build a baloney democracy. And the Hitler behind this group is Prince Philip. The Queen is a nice woman, a great woman, but she don’t have no life experience. He is a streetwise guy. Bought up like a sonofabitch. No parents, alcoholic and in mental hospitals. He grew up with aunt who married a Hitler general. And his sisters who married German officers. He grew up with the Nazis! This is the guy who is running the country!”

Some of that is undoubtedly true, but that’s no way to get a passport now, is it? What does his PR guy do for a living?

Don’t let the size of the trophy fool you, Fulham’s first ever qualification for the UEFA Cup tonight is just about the biggest thing that’s happened in our 120+ year history.

Great article here on the Latino crowd from East Los Angeles who think that Morrissey and The Smiths are the bee’s knees. But then, so do I.
